We are the Sparkans FIRST Robotics Team, a group of passionate and dedicated high school students from STEM Innovation Academy in Calgary, Alberta. STEM Innovation Academy opened its doors to Grade 10 students in Fall 2022, and has now welcomed over 300 new students in Fall 2023. The newly founded Sparkans have shown commitment to this team and we are excited to continue our journey in the FIRST Robotics Competition. We are proud to be building the foundation for future generations of Sparkans and of STEM IA High School students!
We are the Sparkans FIRST Robotics team, a group of passionate and committed high school students from STEM Innovation Academy, Calgary, Alberta. Our school is dedicated to science, technology, engineering, and math. Founded in 2022, we plan to connect and develop as a team in the upcoming years. With a hands-on experimental approach to robotics, we continue to build the foundation for future generations of Sparkans!
Founded in 2024 at STEM Innovation Academy, we are proud to be the first all-girls robotics team in Alberta. With most members having little to no prior experience in robotics, our rookie season was spent developing and expanding a wide range of skills. Over the past four years, the Sparkans Robotics Community has grown substantially. The establishment of of an all-girls FRC team is only the beginning of our mission.

The FIRST Dean's List Award is an award sponsored and supported by the Kamen family to recognize the leadership and dedication amongst selected Grade 10 and 11 students in the FIRST Robotics Competition and the FIRST Tech Challenge.
The FIRST Robotics Competition Imagery Award (in honor of Jack Kamen) celebrates the attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic in the integration of machine of team appearance.
The FIRST Robotics Competition Team Sustainability Award (sponsored by Dow) celebrates a team which has developed and implemented sustainable practices that focus on people, prosperity and the Planet, to have a positive impact achieve long-term continuity.
The FIRST Robotics Competition Rookie All-Star Award highlights the rookie team exemplifying a young but strong partnership effort, in addition to implementing the mission of FIRST to inspire students to learn more about science and technology.
